FESTIVAL VENUES
Landlocked Film Festival is fortunate in its venues. Nearly the entire festival takes places within the confines of Iowa City's Pedestrian Mall (familiarly known as the Ped Mall), where cars are not permitted. It is easy to get from one venue to the next without crossing a street. Not only that, but the Ped Mall has several restaurants and pubs, two hotels, two coffeehouses, an art gallery, and other boutiques.
The Englert Theatre was renovated by the community several years ago and now hosts community theater, nationally known musicians, and other cultural events. The Englert's beautiful auditorium can hold over 700 audience members.
The Sheraton Iowa City underwent a thorough and truly beautiful renovation a year ago.
The Iowa City Public Library is a state-of-the-art facility with Room A, which holds over 100 audience members, just off the street-level lobby, where Landlocked workshops and screenings will take place.
hotelVetro is a hip boutique hotel in the heart of downtown. Facilities are spare and elegant, with concrete floors and minimalist furnishings. The building's penthouse will be the site of the VIP party.
The Bijou Theater is a new venue for Landlocked this year. This student-run cinema at the University of Iowa has been showing indie movies since 1972. It is located in the Iowa Memorial Union, only a few blocks from the Ped Mall.
