FESTIVAL 2007

A SPECTACULAR YEAR FOR LANDLOCKED

Thanks to the filmmakers and scriptwriters who submitted their
work, thanks to the panelists and workshop leaders who shared
their expertise, thanks to the audiences who took a chance on independent film and packed the Englert Theatre as well as
screening rooms in the Iowa City Public Library, the Sheraton
Hotel Iowa City, and hotelVetro, thanks to the volunteers who put
in long but fun hours, and thanks to the sponsors and donors who
made this festival possible!

Landlocked Film Festival is free to attend, so there were no
tickets to count. Nonetheless, using audience counts, we
estimate that Landlocked scored over 9,000 movie viewings
and workshop/panel attendances.


The historic center of Iowa City, anchored by the beautiful Englert Theatre, proved a perfect place for a film festival.


Audiences packed the venues. In spite of some crowding, good
cheer abounded as audiences enjoyed indie films from around the
world and had the opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers
and to participate in question-and-answer sessions.


All weekend, the community was buzzing about this exciting
venture. Over and over, we heard from people who can't wait
for Landlocked 2009. Well, we can't wait, either: Look for
Landlocked's third year in August 2009.
